Overview

From papyrus swamps and ancient rainforests to the thundering Nile and wildlife-filled savannahs, discover one of Africa's richest and most rewarding photographic destinations.

Uganda is a destination unlike anywhere else in Africa. Known as the "Pearl of Africa," it is a land of extraordinary diversity where lush rainforests, vast wetlands, mighty rivers, dramatic waterfalls, and wildlife-rich savannahs combine to create one of the continent's most rewarding photographic adventures.

This carefully crafted Tusk Photo expedition brings together Uganda's most iconic wildlife experiences into one unforgettable journey. From the moment we glide through the papyrus-lined channels of Mabamba Swamp in search of the legendary Shoebill, you'll understand why Uganda has become one of Africa's most sought-after wildlife destinations. Photographing this prehistoric-looking bird at eye level in the soft morning light is an experience few photographers ever forget.

Our adventure continues to Murchison Falls National Park, where the mighty Nile squeezes through a narrow rock gorge before plunging into the world's most powerful waterfall. Here we search for elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes and countless other species during game drives and boat cruises, while also enjoying the thrill of fishing for giant Nile Perch beneath the falls.

The journey then leads into Uganda's emerald rainforests, where we spend extended time with habituated chimpanzees in Kibale National Park. Unlike standard treks, these immersive experiences allow us to observe and photograph the chimps as they go about their daily lives, creating exceptional opportunities for behavioural photography.

The grand finale takes us deep into the ancient forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for one of the world's greatest wildlife encounters. Coming face to face with a family of wild mountain gorillas is an emotional experience that is impossible to describe until you've lived it yourself. The intimacy of these encounters creates powerful photographic moments that remain with you forever.

Complemented by luxury accommodation, spectacular landscapes, boat safaris on the Kazinga Channel, breathtaking views of the Rwenzori Mountains, and the expert guidance of Tusk Photo, this expedition is far more than a photographic safari. It is an immersive journey through one of Africa's last truly wild frontiers, offering an incredible diversity of wildlife, landscapes, and unforgettable moments at every turn.
