Untamed beauty of the Arctic like never before
Overview
An Exclusive Arctic Photo Safari in the Golden Light of the High North
Experience the raw, untamed beauty of the Arctic like never before. In September 2026, Tusk Photo invites you on an exclusive expedition to Svalbard—timed perfectly for the season’s golden, low-angled light that bathes the dramatic landscapes in a photographer’s dream. With nearly all other vessels departed for the year, our privately chartered MV Terschelling will likely be the last ship in the region. This gives us unmatched freedom to explore, adapt to conditions, and photograph wildlife in true solitude.
Wildlife Encounters in Privacy
Though the migratory birds have mostly moved on, Svalbard in September is still alive with wildlife. Polar bears, walrus, seals, reindeer and Arctic foxes roam the region, and you’ll be there to capture them in stunning light and total seclusion. With just five guests per Zodiac, you'll have ideal photographic access and space. Our small group and flexible approach allow for spontaneous excursions. We follow local regulations, of course, but sometimes magic happens - like rounding a corner in your Zodiac to find a bear or walrus unexpectedly waiting in perfect light.
Guided by Experts, Designed for Photographers
You’ll be accompanied by experienced Tusk Photo professionals who provide hands-on guidance and personalised feedback throughout the journey. Whether you’re a seasoned wildlife photographer or a passionate enthusiast, you’ll gain new skills, insights, and a powerful portfolio. The flexible itinerary is designed to follow the best light and wildlife opportunities, so you’re always in the right place at the right time.

Facilities
Discover the perfect blend of classic charm and modern comfort aboard the MV Terschelling, a vessel with a rich history and a touch of maritime elegance. Originally built in Bergen in 1964 for the Norwegian Government, this remarkable ship served various roles before being transformed into an exclusive passenger vessel. During the 2025 off-season the ship has received an extensive revamp and refit, leaving us with an updated almost brand new expedition vessel. The ship is rated as an Ice Class 1B which will mean that we can easily explore the drift ice around Svalbard during our voyage. The ship features ample deck space on the main deck, allowing you to photograph the Arctic surroundings. For panoramic vistas of the magical Svalbard scenery, make your way to the top of the bridge, where you can enjoy breathtaking views. Enhance your relaxation and indulge in the wood-fired hot tub located on the deck, providing a serene oasis amidst the Arctic wilderness. The MV Terschelling offers well-appointed cabins, each boasting private facilities for your utmost convenience. The main deck is where the dining area is located, where you will be treated to delicious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
