Join Tusk Photo on an extraordinary eight-day photographic expedition into the heart of the ancient rainforests of Borneo, one of the world's richest biodiversity hotspots and home to the iconic Bornean orangutan. This carefully crafted journey has been designed specifically for passionate wildlife photographers seeking authentic encounters with one of our closest living relatives in one of the most pristine ecosystems left on Earth.
Travelling by traditional klotok houseboat and exploring the waterways of Tanjung Puting National Park, we venture deep into remote rainforest habitats where wildlife flourishes. Towering jungle giants, winding rivers and lush tropical forests provide a spectacular backdrop as we search for dominant flanged males, playful juveniles and, most importantly, the unforgettable bond between orangutan mothers and their babies.
A true highlight of the expedition is our exclusive access to a secluded photography location that remains undisclosed to the public. Here we spend dedicated time photographing wild orangutan mothers as they navigate flooded forests, carefully carrying their young on their backs and shoulders while moving gracefully between towering trees. These intimate moments are completely natural and unscripted, creating extraordinary opportunities to capture powerful behavioural images rarely seen by photographers.
Beyond the orangutans, Borneo offers an astonishing diversity of wildlife. Throughout the expedition we will photograph proboscis monkeys, colourful kingfishers, hornbills, crocodiles, monitor lizards and a wealth of birdlife, reptiles and rainforest species that make this one of the most biologically diverse places on the planet.
With luxury accommodation, expert local guides, small group sizes and Tusk Photo's renowned photographic guidance, this expedition offers far more than simply photographing wildlife. It is an immersive journey into one of Earth's last great rainforests—a place where every river bend, every shaft of light through the canopy and every wildlife encounter tells a story waiting to be captured.
