By showcasing the beauty of nature through photography, Brendon believes it raises awareness and fosters appreciation for our natural heritage. It inspires others to value and protect these environments, ensuring their preservation for future generations.
Brendon has a special affinity for photographing big cats and other awe-inspiring creatures found in the wild. Their majestic presence and behaviour make for captivating subjects.
Brendon’s advice for wildlife photographers is to think outside the box and experiment. Rather than simply capturing what is readily visible, he encourages photographers to explore new ideas and perspectives. Continuous experimentation and practice lead to growth and improvement.
Brendon has had many memorable experiences throughout his career, but one that stands out is photographing a pride of lions in the Okavango Delta. Witnessing the lions playfully chasing each other through water channels, defying their usual aversion to water, provided a unique and extraordinary photographic opportunity.
When it comes to favourite destinations for wildlife photography, Brendon has a special fondness for the Pantanal in Brazil. Its unique ecosystem provides unparalleled opportunities to capture the region’s diverse wildlife, from jaguars to colourful bird species. The Pantanal’s vibrant landscapes and rich biodiversity make it a photographer’s paradise and a place where Brendon’s creativity can truly flourish.
While Brendon appreciates wide-angle lenses, he finds the versatility of the 70-200mm lens to be indispensable for his photography. It allows him to capture a wide range of subjects and compositions effectively.
Beyond photography, Brendon enjoys indulging in Biltong (a type of dried meat), appreciating the colour blue, listening to country music, spending time with his dogs, and immersing himself in outdoor activities.
According to Brendon, what sets Tusk apart is their team of dedicated professional photographers who not only teach the theory of photography but also emphasize the practicality of creating compelling images. Their expertise in wildlife and the practical aspects of photography ensures clients receive exceptional service and have unforgettable experiences.
