As always when we all, gathered at Elephant Plains in time for lunch, and then a quick briefing and get together, the anticipation was high.
The feeling was almost tangible as we set out for our first afternoon game drive, and it was not in vain.
Within moments we found a female leopard. She was up in a tree with a kill. We remained with her for about an hour, when she started to vocalise. She called and called for her cub. Receiving no response she came down from the tree and walked through the bush. We followed her for about two hundred meters, where she found her cub. The cub ran to mom, and after a greeting ceremony with plenty of head rubbing, they played around on the ground for a few minutes.
When the game ended the two leopards disappeared into the bush, leaving us with beautiful photographs and equally beautiful memories.
In the morning we plan to return to the tree with the kill …
