Elephant Plains Safari: Karula with her Little Cubs.

We set out really early in the predawn darkness – and had an early reward for our eagerness when we bumped into the beautiful leopard, Karula with her two cubs. Karula had killed a Steenbok this morning and had eaten about half of her kill when we caught up with her.
The cubs were a little shy as they peeped out as us from the shelter of some dense foliage and bushes, but we saw them quite clearly and managed to capture images of mom with one or other of the little ones – the two cubs never ventured into a visible area together, but rather took turns to appear with mother.
The interaction between the family members was truly magical, and gave us some heart-warming and outstanding photo opportunities. This was a major highlight for the morning.
After spending our entire morning with the leopards it was time to return to the Lodge and bid farewell to the current safari group and to welcome the new arrivals …
