Ndutu & Serengeti Photo Safari

Each year thousands of Wildebeest give birth to their young in one of natures biggest events the Ndutu Serengeti Wildebeest Calving season.

This 10 day safari is without doubt an experience that you as a wildlife photographer should not miss! Considered one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth, the migration includes millions of animals as the wildebeest are accompanied on their trek by hundreds of thousand of zebra and gazelle – and predators.

Our safari is aimed at the calving season when the massive herds of wildebeest arrive in the Southern most point of their migration over February March. This is without a doubt one of the best times for you to witness this extraordinary spectacle when the herds find themselves on the vast open plains of the southern Serengeti and Ndutu plains. Here over 8 000 calves are born per day - yet less than half will live to see their five-month birthday.  Roaming prides of lion follow the herds, large clans of hyena and of course resident cheetah make for non stop action. For these reasons Ndutu is a favourite with wildlife enthusiasts, photographers and film-makers.

Tusk Photo will be using private safari vehicles for the entire tour. We will also be limiting the number of photographers per vehicle so that there are no limitations in terms of your photographic opportunities.

Ndutu & Serengeti Photo Safari

Each year thousands of Wildebeest give birth to their young in one of natures biggest events the Ndutu Serengeti Wildebeest Calving season.

In East Africa one of the biggest natural spectacles on our planet is the ongoing migration of the Wildebeest and Zebra (primarily). In some years these numbers can reach as much as 2 million individuals taking part in the migration. One of the best times to witness this extraordinary spectacle is during the months of February and March when the herds find them selves on the vast open plains of the southern Serengeti and Ndutu plains. Here these animals arrive for the Wildebeest calving season, which reaches its peak during February and March. The female Wildebeest give birth to their young on the Ndutu Plains and start preparing for the northward leg of their annual trek. Watching over a million wildebeest give birth is something of a miracle and of course the predator action that follows is relentless. Over 8000 calves are born per day in the calving season; yet less than half will live to see their five-month birthday. Roaming prides of lion follow the herds; large clans of hyena and of course resident cheetah make for non-stop action. For these reasons Ndutu is a favourite with wildlife photographers and filmmakers from around the world.

Our 10 day safari puts us right in the middle of this amazing natural event. You will be up close and personal with one of the most amazing wildlife spectacles. We will be covering all the major wildlife hot-spots around Ndutu as well as the Southern to central section of the Serengeti where the wildebeest will be during that time of the year. We will be using our own private vehicles throughout the entire tour and we will limit the number of photographers per vehicle giving each photographer ample space and unequaled opportunity.
